We live in an era where robots are present in our daily activities. We go to the bank to take some money, we have a robot machine that guides us to the process. We go to the supermarket, we have the self-scanning option. We want to find our phone in the house, we call for Siri or Cortana and they make a sound that helps us find it. In digital marketing it’s the same. We want to extract some data from a campaign, we go to Agency Analytics.
Even more close to our times, the robots that have artificial intelligence have become top of conversation. Now there are artificial intelligence chats that we can go to, ask questions and even be close to the feeling that we have a conversation with a friend on a chat online.
We became very used to the idea that there can be tasks done very efficiently by artificial intelligence, things very technical, automatic and repetitive that do not necessary require so much know-how and critical thinking, so that us humans can concentrate our attention and energy on the things that can not be done without a human perspective and consciousness.
In this article I am going to present to you some popular artificial intelligence solutions, what they can do and some reviews. We have had a talk on the agency about how can we use artificial intelligence in order to make some tasks easier and less time consuming. Tasks that require research on a specific topic ( Ex: Gathering articles and resources for a presentation), so I wanted to dig a little deeper on the subject :D. Let’s begin:
Artificial intelligence tools and how can they be used in digital marketing
1. Canva PRO – Text to image
Recently Canva has had a very big upgrade and there are many, many new things added on the platform for creatives, but one caught my attention in particular that was still in beta in 2022, it’s called ,,Text to image” and it is supposed to give a visual representation about a text that you insert. On the images below you can see the text that I have introduced in Canva and what it generated at the end.
I can say that for very contextual visual representations where you do not need to make close ups or the focus is not on the faces it can work, but personally I think it is still a work in progress with this function on the human side. It can work for nature element, town and elements that do not require many details.
This can be very helpful when trying to imagine and create a vision board for a brand or a new project that you have on your mind. The general feedback received on this function is that, as with any other artificial intelligence solution, you need to understand how to communicate what you want in order to give you the best result. What words do I need to use in order to receive the visual representation I want? That would be the key question here.
2. Talk to books
This could be an effective research solution when writing content about a certain topic. The difference between this and Google search for books can be that now you do not have to look for a large amount of information on an online book and try to find it with the classic ‘Ctrl + F’ and pray to have luck and find what you are looking for.
I find it useful that you can even apply filters and have information from different fields. For example, I tried to look for information about the two hemispheres of the brain and I could see it from a medical point of view or from a philosophical point of view.
3. Excel Formula Bot
I am personally tired of looking for tutorials for certain formulas in SpreadSheets. I think that I can skip remembering very specific and complex formulas on SpreadSheet that an AI can generate in less than 5 seconds.
Sometimes I agree that it can be a fun challenge to try to figure out how can you make a formula work, but when you have 10 other deadlines on that day waiting in line you can take the easy way around. I have tried this AI for Excel for generating formulas for a specific need that I have had and even the reverse process, I gave him a formula and he told me what I can do with it. Pretty cool! I am a fan, I must confess!

To wrap things up
I think that AI can be efficient and effective if used with the right purpose and with boundaries. And what I mean with boundaries is do not use artificial intelligence tool to generate know-how and expertise in the digital marketing field ( generate me a campaign strategy for a summer camp, generate me a social media post, generate me a copy for this campaign, etc.). If I see a logo or brandbook generated by an AI I would have goosebumps.. and not in a good way.
Put the artificial intelligence to work, but do not let it do yours! 😎
By the way, keep close. I will refresh this article from once in a while after I test some more tools that work and they can really help you with something.
